LINDA BADLEY is Professor of English at Middle Tennessee State University. She has published articles on fantasy, film, and gender. She is currently working on a book on the horror fiction of Stephen King, Clive Barker, and Anne Rice.

For the film scholar

This is a very interesting book on the concept of the body in the horror film. Badley uses popular theories like psychanalysis, the female gothic and "the Birth of the Clinic", in order to situate the image of the body (most particularly, the female body) in today's society. This book is aimed at the film sholar who is particularly interested in the horror/gothic genre (in film and literature) and women studies. She is a lot more easy to read than Barbara Creed!
