About the Author

BERNARD REICH is Professor and Chairman of the Department of Political Science at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. He serves as a consultant to various United States government agencies on Middle Eastern affairs, Chairman, Advanced Area Studies (Fertile Crescent) at the Department of State's Foreign Service Institute and is a member of the adjunct faculty of the Defense Intelligence College and the Defense Institute of Security Assistance Management. Reich is the author of Quest for Peace, The United States and Israel, Israel, the Middle East and North Africa, Israel Faces the Future (Praeger Publishers, 1986), The Powers in the Middle East (Praeger Publishers, 1987), and Israeli National Security Policy (Greenwood Press, 1988).

About the Author

ANNE T. ROMANO is Adjunct Professor in the Department of Criminal Justice at C.W. Post College and the Department of Behavioral Sciences at Kingsborough Community College in New York. She is also the author of several books on human relations training for 911 operators and police personnel and has published articles on spouse and child abuse patterns, terrorism, drug-related homicide, and international crime patterns including espionage, drug trafficking, arms trafficking, and rebellion.

CHIEKO I. MULHERN is a Professor of Japanese Studies at Fukuoka Jogakuin College, and was a Professor of Japanese and Comparative Literature at the University of Illinois until 1992. She has written three books in Japanese on comparative culture, and has authored many English works on Japanese literature, media, and women.

About the Author

SAMUEL G. RILEY is Professor in the Department of Communications Studies at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Dr. Riley is the author or editor of four other books: Magazines of the American South, Index to Southern Magazines, American Magazine Journalists, 1741-1850, and American Magazine Journalists, 1850-1900.

GARY W. SELNOW is Associate Professor in the Department of Communications Studies at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. An active consultant and reviewer, Dr. Selnow is also the author of Targeted Communication.
